H&T Battery Components for Alkaline Batteries and the wider Heitkamp & Thumann Group of companies is committed to reducing its carbon footprint in order to make our world a more sustainable and environmentally friendly place for future generations. H&T Battery Components for Alkaline Batteries already has a an advantage as our manufacturing process does not need post-plating of the battery cans, unlike competitor can products.

Activities employed at H&T Battery Components for Alkaline Batteries include the installation of a Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer that uses one of the in house pollutants (MEK) as a burn off to reduce particulate pollutants which decreases the need to use natural gas. Also, H&T Battery Components for Alkaline Batteries has installed energy efficient HVAC units replacing Freon use with R410a, which is much more environmentally friendly as well as eliminating our chrome plater to reduce environmental footprint as well as increasing employee safety.

Waste reduction is also a focus as the installation of a recycling system that reuses 70% of chemical soap usage and 20,000 gallons of water from building maintenance cleaning annually. Waste paper, cardboard, plastic and scrap metal at all our sites around the globe are also recycled regularly continuing our commitment to a more sustainable future.

H&T Battery Components for Alkaline Batteries also places sustainable thinking throughout the office as well as the shop floor. A rewarded employee suggestion program has been introduced to embrace environmental, safety and energy saving ideas. In addition, training is provided to all employees, encouraging all workers to help with the elimination/reductions of wastes in manufacturing for a leaner overall process.

H&T Battery Components for Alkaline Batteries also place an emphasis on giving back to the local community we work closely with local schools and provide pre-apprentice/apprenticeship paid training programs and award scholarship grants to local students.
